Welcome
Seeking counselling is a courageous act. It’s not always easy to pause and take a look at what is happening in your life and within you. Writer Annie Lamott said, “My mind is like a bad neighbourhood. I try not to go there alone.”
Often a warm, supportive, professional relationship can give you the confidence to face your thoughts and emotions and start to change the way you relate to yourself and others.
I’m committed to being a non-judgemental and compassionate companion, as we explore the challenges that you face and the possibilities that are available. I also believe that counselling doesn’t need to be all doom and gloom, and that we can have a few laughs together, along the way.

When the weather gets too intense,
we can face it together.
Life transitions
Going through a divorce, losing a loved one, career changes, moving to a new area and perimenopause are just some life changes that can cause a major sense of upheaval. Counselling can help us to cope with what we're going through and adjust in a way that honours what's important to us.
Emotions
More and more people are suffering from anxiety, depression, loneliness and anger. Counselling can give us the tools to start to understand and relate to even extreme emotions in a more skilful way, so that we feel more in control of our lives.
Relationships
The Harvard Study of Adult Development found that the quality of our relationships is the single most important factor contributing to our long-term happiness and health. I offer counselling to couples, families, colleagues and friends. Learning interpersonal skills and developing a deeper understanding of ourselves and others can shift and transform relational dynamics.
Stress
Stress is a common problem, that can have major effects on our physical and mental health. Signs of high stress include irritability, anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, difficulty concentrating, poor decision making, fatigue, and headaches. Counselling can help us to develop skills to manage stress like relaxation techniques, mindfulness, lifestyle changes, time management, boundaries and self-compassion.
Trauma
Events from our past can have a big influence on how we live our lives today. Thoughts, emotions and behaviour that once kept us safe can now cause us to live in a way that is defended, narrowing our experience. Counselling can help us to change these patterns and expand our possibilities.
Reactive behaviour
Reacting impulsively can cause us to behave in ways that we regret. Aggression, substance abuse, overeating, avoidance and other impulsive behaviours can be explored in counselling. Learning to regulate our nervous systems can give us the freedom to respond in more skilful ways.
